i have an old toshiba that i got when i started college. this computer has done this to me before, and i used to be able to fix it but now i can't remember. here is my problem:
After the TOSHIBA displays, it goes directly to this warning : "Windows could not start because of the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file.
win xp home is on the computer currently but i no longer own that disk. i go to college and got a loaner disc of vista enterprise, but i do not know how to boot from this disk. i went into my BIOS and changed CD-ROM to first priority but it gives me this message: Intel Boot Agent blah blah PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable PXE-MOF:Exiting Intel Boot Agent then it gives me the same error message as previously. i'm just wondering if anyone has any idea what to do
