The best (only) way to download from an SD card is to use an adapter. (Some cameras come with software that lets you attach the camera to the PC using a supplied cable and you just follow through the prompts, but the software is generally not needed and can be a pain in some instances). Many laptops and some PCs come with them built in (usually referred to as a 'card reader'), or otherwise you can buy USB-connected adapters very cheaply in many places - even our local supermarket sells them. Just plug in and then either you are presented with a pop-up saying 'what do you want to do' ('view files' is the best option), or click on 'Start' then 'Computer' and click on the icon for the SD card. Then navigate to the folder on the card holding your pictures (usually within a folder called DCIM) and drag and drop the files into a suitable folder on your PC.
