i got hacked around a week ago while i was on holiday and forgot to turn my pc off, as i ended up rushing like hell to get away...anyways, what happened when i came back i installed call of duty 5, and updated my graphics card drivers, i then went to check my WE score and there i noticed that it said my copy of vista was not genuine!!

i managed to clean my system after about 2 days...full of trojans and malware, and searched the net for a solution, which was to find my product ID, and thats where i noticed it had changed. mine is an OEM edition of vista which came with the pc, but the ID shown is completely different.

i tried changing the key, but it wont let me, and ive since found that a file called slmr.vbs is corrupted or invalid.

where do i go from here??

im raging, and last thing i want to do is reinstall vista. i cant even do a system restore because that was also corrupt, and my previous backups have been deleted!!!

im at my wits end

**update**

ive also just found that i have service pack 2 v113 installed????

i checked MS website and there's no such thing available, so i went to my installed updates, and there are 3 or 4 there which cant be uninstalled.

im guessing whats happened is a virus or whatever has installed itself as a MS update...it just gets worse

You will need to burn your data to a disk and reinstall vista. Windows is in too much of a problem to easily be fixed.

If your computer is a name brand you can call them and order the restore discs for about $20.
