My computer takes about 10 minutes to "shut down." And after the screen goes black, the power is not actually off. The light on my power switch is stil and I have to hold it in for a few seconds and then it shuts down.
It seems ever since I installed ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite I've had a lot of "freezes" while I'm on the computer. And the whole shutdown problem didn't exist before.
Any ideas?
I was using Norton Antivirus with very little problems. AFter researching, I decided to try ZoneAlarm instead. Now, I'm thinking that was a bad move.
Help!!!

vista,,don't like norton for some reason...been using norton for many year's..and zonealarm is even worse...switched to windows live 1 care...no prob's since...m$..has made vista..to there liking..more $$$$$$ for m$

If your problems started right after you installed some stuff, you can revert to the previous state before you installed the problematic software.
First try to uninstall the problematic software and then do a System Restore.

yeah,,i used system restore with norton 360 and zonealarm full...system restore.. would not restore.. ended up formatting each time....and all i was doing really was to see what would run in vista and what would not....never added any programs...but anti virus...just a basic function for vista...ask alot of ??? here...this site helped me big time........good luck

i solved the problem by turning off ZA right before I shut down. computer now turns off in less than a minute!!!i also turned off my HP Total Care Advisor.. that program uses a lot of juice! that may have helped too.
thanks for the advice!
