i can not open some of my programs

i recently installed norton 360. after it installed, i couldent open the program. then soon to find out i couldent open my calender, and some of the other programs windows has to offer. so i decided to uninstall the norton thinking it would be the problem, but aparently not...i need help to get my laptop back tot the way it was...somebody please

Summary: I transferred some photos from my camera's memory disk to my hard drive and then burned them to a CD. Now I can't open some of them. Error message says "invalid image" or "format unknown/unsupported"....
