I have Vista menus set up pretty much to took like XP. When I get ready to shut down it always defaults to the sleep option. On XP if you chose shut down it would do that every time until you chose a different option. Is there away to get shut down to be the default on Vista?

Sleep is the default for the power button in the start menu. You can fully power down the long way by clicking on start, then clicking on the arrow button to the right of the power button then selecting "shutdown"
You can also change the setting for the power button in the start menu to shutdown instead of sleep.
To do this click start and in the "start search" bar at the bottom type in:
power options
and hit enter. In the middle of the screen in blue click on "Change Plan Settings" then click on "Change Advanced Power Settings". Next click on the + next to "Power Buttons And Lid", and next the + next to "Start menu power button" now change setting:sleep to shutdown.
Click ok and exit out.
The settings should take immediately so next time you hit the power button in the start menu it will shutdown the pc instead of putting it into sleep.
