"Troubleshooting Outlook Express Error 0x800CCC7D?

Question:
How do I troubleshoot Outlook Express Error 0x800CCC7D?

Answer:
You may get the error message 'The server does not support a SSL connection. Account; pop.tiscali.co.uk Server smtp.tiscali.co.uk.' Protocol SMTP, server response '250 HELP' Port; 25, Secure (SSL) Yes, Server Error 250, error number 0x800CCC7D.'

Solution
This problem happens because your version of Outlook Express is set up to use Secure Socket Layer (SSL), which Tiscali does not use.

To fix this problem, open Outlook Express, and click:

- Tools

- Accounts

- Then click on your Tiscali connection and click Properties

- Then click Advanced

- On this screen remove the checks from the boxes This server requires a secure connection for both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3).

You will then be able to collect your mail."

Which instructions - Tiscali Support's from above?

The error message you posted above would indicate a problem with your account sever's settings. Do you know what that should be?

I have three email accounts on this machine -- Windows Mail; Windows Live Mail; Outlook 2007 -- and they all work fine, if you enter the right information ... it's a piece of cake. Go back & check your settings.

The particular settings you need to pay attention to include:

Incoming Email Server Type - POP3

Incoming Mail (POP3): pop.tiscali.co.uk

Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.tiscali.co.uk

Incoming Mail (POP3) Port: 110

Outgoing mail (SMTP) Port: 25

You may need to check the above with Tiscali if is still doesn't work to see if anything has changed with their port information.

THANKS I have gone through all the checks you have mentioned also checked out the tiscali help page and I have un ticked some of the boxes that were ticked,
now I have only one email that wont go,I had a list of seven that were stacked up in windows mail, but after these alterations 6 have now gone, the last message im getting is
YOUR SERVER has terminated this connection possible causes, server or network problems,or long period of inactivity, subject mail account pop.tiscali.co.uk server smtp.tiscali.co.uk,
protcol,smtp,server response 421 disconnecting,port25,secure (ssl)no,server errors 421, ERROR NO Ox800CCCOF.
Does this help to solve any more probs,

I don't know why six would go through but the last one wouldn't ... definitely strange. Are you able to send a new email - preferably to yourself?

If you are able to do that, then the problem might have to do with that specific message.
