How to print to a shared printer

I purchased a Vista 64 bit laptop but unable to print to my desktop pc that is xp 32 bit shared printer, the laptop finds the printer but still unable to print. Have installed new drivers on both computers but no change. Any suggestions?

Can we assume that the two systems can share a file or folder?

Are firewalls open to allow printing?

Did you install the OEM's 64 bit drivers on the 32 bit or on the 64 bit?
