How to install Vista and XP

I have WIN XP and I want to install Vista, but I also want to keep XP, dual operating system. When I put Vista DVD there is no offer on which partition can I install it. I try it from DVD boot, same thing happened. I have VISTA RC1. That is only for test purpose?? Should I not to install it?
