how to increase space on D drive

Specs: Windows Vista
checked amount of space left on D drive and is only .9 left. How do I increase space on this recovery drive? I have a HP with windows vista, with explorer 8

Recovery drives (actually they're just partitions off of the main HDD) aren't meant to be used for anything but just that---the re-installation of the OS should something go horribly wrong with the main partition (likely "C drive"). They're not really meant to store other files on, and you'd likely only have a couple hundred megs of space total in that partition anyway...

The recovery partition is for the exclusive use of the recovery system. It's contents should not be deleted, added to, or modified in any way. It is not for your use. Any changes to this partition may prevent it from serving it's intended purpose.
