|It's going to depend on what he did when he installed linux. Apparently those models have a restore partition on them. If he deleted that then your only recourse is to use a generic Vista installation disk or restore disks for that model, if you can find them. For that you might want to check the support page for your model.|
If the restore partition is intact you may be able to boot to it. From:
"Turn on the computer. When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold < Ctrl > and then press < F11 >. Then, release both keys at the same time."
If that works you'll get the 'Dell PC Restore by Symantec window' and you can start the restore that way.
The other restore methods use either the F8 boot menu or must be started from within windows. Neither of those will work for you because vista has been completely removed.
