Hello, does anybody know how to copy everything from one computer hard disk to another? I am about to get a new laptop, and I would like to transfer everything from my old one (Toshiba) to the new one (Sony Vaio). Well, maybe everything but not wipe the settings and programs that come with new computer. I appreciate any suggestions. Both computers run Vista with the new one probably running Vista 64bit. Will the Easy Transfer Cable help with that? Or are there better methods? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to easily transfer all of your files using the Easy Transfer Cable, but you will have to reinstall all of your programs. There are programs, like PC Mover, that will transfer soem of your settings as well, but I cannot vouch for how well they work.

Server1, again you are answering posts that are very old and probably have been resolved. You also need to learn more about computers, you do not put the same IP address on both computers.
