How does Vista choose area for installation

November 11, 2009 at 04:21:23
Specs: Windows Vista, 240/3gb
Im about to install Office 2007. My question is how does vista choose the installation place.

I have all my music already on my PC so will it install office at the next available storage space on the disc or it there a part held that all programmes are installed to.

I am wanting to maintain fast operating speed without always using defrag as this sometimes cannot move certain files.

Thanks

By default, applications in Windows are installed in C:\Program Files. If you are running the 64-Bit version of Windows, you'll have C:\Program Files & C:\Program Files (x86).

And as for without always using defrag as this sometimes cannot move certain files

This is by design. Read the following.
