Comment: My subject line says it all... how do I disable defender and are there any dire consequences if I do? Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

Reply: (edit)There are two ways. 1. If you want to disable Windows Defender from starting when Vista boot, look HERE. 2. If you only want to turn Windows Defender on and off after Vista has booted, look HERE In any event I don't recommend that you do any of the above because it is your safety mechanism against spywares & malwares. i_Xp/VistaUser
