hotmail autofill

March 11, 2011 at 10:56:20
Specs: Windows Vista

I want to know if you know how I can remove certain email addresses from the auto fill list in Hotmail which pop up for the contact when I type in the first couple letters of the contact in the 'to' bar. The previously used addresses will show even when the contact has been deleted.

Example: If I send an email to a particular address that I no longer want to send email to, how do I remove that address completely from the "to" bar so it will no longer pop up when I start typing in a different (although similar) address?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have Hotmail on MSN. I, too, had the same problem. I'd type in a couple of letters in the TO: line for sending email, and it would give me a list to choose from which included incorrectly typed addresses from when I'd accidentally typed the address in wrong. First make sure your mailbox/address list has the correct email addresses only.
Then go to OPTIONS

Let me finish that--I hit the wrong key.

Go to OPTIONS on your HOTMAIL page (upper right hand corner)
Click MORE OPTIONS
Go to CUSTOMIZING HOTMAIL
Then to ADVANCED PRIVACY SETTINGS
Click on: Only suggest people in my contact list.

It eliminates all the bogus emails and old email addresses when typing in the TO: line when sending an email. It just brings up what is in your address book. And I keep that current. Hope this helps.
