Host file blocking sites

I'd like to block some websites. But when I change it, as I did in Xp, I keep getting this message.
Cannot create Make sure patha nd file name are correct.
I've tried to follow instructions to do this in Vista, but still can't work out how to do this.
Can anyone let me know how to blcok sites in Vista, with the Host file.

I think I opened a comand prompt as admin and just renamed the old one and then moved the new one in.
You should have a complete hosts file from that site. Then add in what you want. The other sites are well known bad sites. You can block all sorts of bad guys with a single file.
