"so i bought an s cable with usb, that connects to tv and computer" you can't connect a tv to the computer using usb. If that's not what you meant, please explain exactly what connections (video input) you have on the tv and computer (video output), type of tv and what connections on the other end of usb cable.

oops! you're correct, of course i have a s-cable with both ends being the same, s i guess you'd call them. there is an s output on the computer and an s input on the t.v., so i assumed the cable would do the trick. there is also a second wire for sound, one end is plugged into the sound out (used also for headphones) and the other end splits in to the t.v. inputs for audio l and r. i don't get sound out of the tv either.

Check the volume control in Vista mixer, device, output is active. On the video side, did the cable you have come with the video card, or did you buy it seperatly as it may have different connections. Usually video cards that have video out come with a s-video to s-video and rca adaptor. Check the manual for the video card, if you don't have it, download it from the makers website.

also, on the TV side... don't forget to change the "input" to "s-video" so that the TV is tuning into the correct conection for video instead of maybe the HDMI or RCA joints etc
