For some reason when I put my desktop PC into Hibernation mode, the PC doesn't totally shut down and then like 10 seconds after its supposed to be in Hibernation mode, it just turns back on again and goes back into windows. It just won't stay in Hibernation. Anyone else ever had this problem?

PC1:
- Asus M2V-MX SE
- Athlon 64 4200+ X2 @ 2.2GHz
- 1GB DDR2 @ 667MHz
- nVidia GeForce 8500GT 512MB OC @ 729/932MHz

PC2:
- Core2Duo Laptop/1GB DDR2

Curious is this related to your March 2008 post HERE?

Also check out the following article issued by M$ last Friday

Hibernation & Standby are features designed for laptops/notebooks, not desktop PCs. Disable it & reconfigure your Power Management/Power Scheme settings.

Hey XpUser, I see the "note" is included on that page too. Is M$ putting that on ALL Vista pages that deal with performance issues?

I've disabled it now, I don't normally use it anyway, I just wanted it because whenever I shutdown or restart my PC my overclocking settings for my GFX card reset and I have to load the profile I made for it again so I was just trying to get around that. It doesn't matter anyway, its not hard to do. Thanks for your help.

Oh, to answer your question XpUser: its not related, I don't have a problem with my laptops going into Hibernation.

PC Freak ... I;m glad you did the smart thing :-)

jam ... I'm not sure what prompted them to issue the three articles that deals with performance of Vista Capable & Vista Premium Ready PCs. Each of the three articles stressed the importance of setting in your mind the right expectations of what is a Vista PC as I pointed out in THIS thread. I'd like to paraphase what DVM wrote in the same thread that it could be just that M$ is trying to cover their a** in light of the Vista Capable class action trial that have resumed after the Appeal Court rejected M$ motion to kill it.
