Hi Everyone,

We will soon to be rolling out Vista computers to all of our staff (not by choice), and I have a question to which I cannot find an answer anywhere.

Our current servers/DC are Windows Server 2003, and workstations Windows XP. Once we roll out the Vista machines, will Server 2003 Group Policy be able to successfully apply to the vista machines?

For example, we will be implementing the classic logon screen, instead of the 'click your username' style. We know how to do this under local policy, but when we log on to the server, the group policy entries are not there.

Are there upgrades, patches or something similar?

From what I can gather .... you won't be able to manage Vista policies from Windows Server 2003. You can only do so from a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 based machine.

I don't think Microsoft would release a new OS that was not backwards compatible with previous server versions.

It seems as though GP on out server has been updated, possibly through WSUS, as there are now options there which related to specific Vista components.

I am not sure if this is correct, but it does seem the case.
