Gmail in Outlook 2007 w/ IMAP

Ok. I am trying to configure Outlook 2007 to handle my gmail via IMAP. I followed all of the instructions at: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/... to the letter, but it doesn't work.

When I try to download my mail I get a message saying "the connection to the server failed."

I've tried changing the imap server to imap.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com and that doesn't work.

any ideas?

I am sure I could use pop3 instead but that would not allow for proper synching, so I'm hoping for a better solution.

Nevermind! I figured it out.

The firewall settings on my Cox Cable modem were interfering. I altered those and the problem went away.
