I bought a new HD a few weeks ago which is much faster than my old HD which I had Vista Ultimate installed on. I set up the new HD as my master drive and did a clean install of Vista Ultimate on it and then set up my old HD (with a previous installation of Vista Ultimate on it) as a slave drive. Everything works great but now when I try to format my slave drive Vista wont let me because it has "System Files" on it. I have checked my BIOS settings and they are correct. Anyone have any idea on how to format my drive.

Sorry if there are posts on this already but after a quick search I didn't find any that answered my question. Thanks in advance!!

down load the "Bootable ISO Image of Active@ KillDisk to burn CD" here:

http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfre...

burn the image onto a blank CD, boot from this cd and wipe the slave drive. then boot into Vista again and setup the drive with the disk management tool.

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Why don't you unplug the new hard disk, run the Vista CD on startup, format and shut down as soon as the format is complete. then plug again and on vista format again

Vista was kinda weird on my system. I had to unplug all my extra HDDs to keep it from partially installing on them. Try unpluging your extra HDD and reinstall Vista and then try to format.
