Hi,
Hope I am posting in the correct section.I'm using Firefox version 3.0.4 on Vista Ultimate 32bit.
Recently, I uninstalled AVG and installed avast free anti-virus instead.
Everything is ok, except that when I now download any exe file then after the download completes the status in the firefox download window says "scanning for virus" and the green bar keeps scrolling.
This goes on for ever until I close the window my self. The file is still accessible from the download location, but I would still like to have my downloaded files scanned by the AV after they are downloaded. How do I change the Firefox settings so they can use the new avast AV as the scanner. Probably it is still looking for the avg scanner.
Or should I just uninstall firefox and re-install?Sarosh

hi
i wondered about this for ages as i set up a friends pc same as mine , Firefox and avg free, his scans for viruses mine dosnt, so whats different?, i seem to have downloaded the US version, he got the UK English ver,i just 'read' 'english' and d/l & installed, ive no idea what the difference is (some one here may enlighten me other than slight spelling issues)
any way, ages later (i thought it was freebie avg tool bar giving strange results as it wasnt compatible with ffox,) it turns out its nothing to do with avg its a little known (to me) firefox setting
