Hey guys... i've got Vista Ultimate on my laptop and XP Pro on my desktop. Whenever i share a folder on my laptop, I am able to see the folder that is shared, but I can't access it. I have Vista set so that file sharing doesn't require a password. On the Vista machine, i can view and access everything that I have shared on the XP machine. I'm completly stumped on this one and I'd appreciate the help.

Does it ask you for a password? I had the same issue last week, There was acutally 2 areas I had to look in for the password.. Also if you are using the default workgroup, try changing it, but make sure they are both the same.

Disable the firewalls (Windows firewall, antivirus firewall) that installed on your both computers if found. Only enable firewall and allow file sharing traffic after solving your problem.

On XP computer, open a file explorer and type \\Vista-IP, then you should be able to access Vista shared folder.
