Comment: I have two PCs. One is a Gateway with Vista, 1gb of memory, 4ghz dual core processor, and two internal 250GB hard drives, and the other is this one, my laptop. However, with both PCs, I cannot find the area that you change file associations with. It used to be in folder options, accessible through any open folder's tool menu, but it seems to have disappeared in windows vista. Can anyone point out it's new location for me? Thanks in advance.

Reply: (edit)No it hasn't disappeared altogether. It's just that some wizards over in Redmond thought that by moving it under Control Panel's Default Programs, everyone will be benefitted (not me). To access File Association settings in Vista, read and follow the walkthrough below with coffee :-) http://articles.techrepublic.com.co... P.S. Exercise care not to spill coffee on the keyboard. i_Xp/VistaUser

Reply: (edit)BTW If the above article is too much to read, the easier approach is open Windows Explorer and right click on a file with the extension in question and then select 'Open with..'. This will bring you to the File Association settings for all programs. i_Xp/VistaUser
