I have an extended monitor system with a Acer 25.5 widescreen and a 22 square Samsung.
Because of room constraints I had to mount the second monitor (Samsung) above the main monitor. Of course Vista doesn't know that and you have to exit the mouse on the right of the main screen and it enters the second monitor on the left side... In other words the monitor is extended to the right.
Is there any way to trick Vista into extending UP? (mouse exits the main from the top and enters secondary from the bottom)

How can Vista possibly know where the second monitor is? What happens to the cursor when you move it all the way to the right? It should still enter on the left side of the second monitor. Did it ever work properly?

Yes it works properly.... that's the problem. It's the reason why I said "trick vista...."
Vista expects the extended monitor to be on the right side of the main monitor. When you exit the main on its right side you enter the extended on its left side. I don't think at one time I ever said it wasn't working properly. And of course I don't expect vista to know where the monitor is.
So... once again, here's the problem... the extended monitor is not mounted on the right side. It's mounted ABOVE the main monitor. Exiting the main on the right and entering the extended on the left works but operations would be a lot smoother if I could exit from the TOP of the main monitor into the BOTTOM of the extended.
I'm almost certain there is no way to do it.... but then on the other hand maybe someone out there has run into the same dilemma.

I understand what you're saying now. You want to push the mouse up instead of to the right and have it enter the extended monitor from the bottom.
I don't think there is a way to do it either but just for fun, what do you think would have to be modified, the video card driver?

I'm not at all sure, but it seems to me that microsoft should give you a choice as to which of the 4 sides you wish to extend to and not just the right side of the main monitor. Oh well.... the more I play with it, then the faster I will get used to it I guess.

Wait I know there's a way to do it. Right click the desktop, click Personalize, then click Display Settings. Position the mouse on the square with the number 2 in it. This is the position of your second display. Hold the left mouse button down while you drag that square to where it's above the square with the 1 in it (that square is your primary monitor). Click Apply and OK. This should accomplish what you want.
