Exe files open in wordpad

I was clicking on an .exe file, when the 'open with' box came up. i dont know why this happened. i accidently hit wordpad, and now all my .exe files open up in wordpad. i reset my comp, and now the icons are missing, and clicking on the .exe files have put me back to the 'open with'. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME GET THINGS NORMAL? Or do i have to restart my comp from the begining? Please help.
