Not too sure what you mean by 'do it' (repair it, replace it, install it....??)

Anyway, you can get USB ethernet adapters if you don't want to open the PC case (the harddrive is a component within the case, not the case itself). Go to your local Maplins/PCWorld etc. & they'll be able to help you.

... some cable modems have usb sockets built-in! (do you need ethernet?)
