Hi! chaps, because I was having so much aggro with Vista, I installed another hard drive, with the intention of putting XP on it.
I bought XP from Ebay, and it was about 4 months before I got around to installing my copy of XP, and on installation it wouldn't accept the activation code, and unfortunately I didn't take note of the buyer, I tried Ebay, but they said they only kept records for three months. Now, I don't think for a moment that the chap sent me a dodgy one, I think he just made a mistake with the code.
I paid £70 for it, which seems to be the going price, and as a last resort, I thought I would see if I could get any help from Microsoft, perhaps an activation code I could afford, but, they don't seem to have an mail address without answering a lot of questions that don't apply, so I wondered if anyone on this forum had an address.
Thanks in advance for any help.

£70 ?!?!? bit of a rip off for 2nd hand.

eBuyer used to sell OEM versions of XP Home for about £50. on checking they dont stock it anymore but have Media Centre for £66 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114051
or XP Pro for about £80.

www.scan.co.uk seem to have them for £52

Im sure the others will advise on the restrictions of OEM software. You can google for it.

With regards to your product code - looks like you will have to contact microsoft and explain everything and hope they can help since eBay cannot help you. Read this about product keys :-

Good Luck

Edit - found XP Home at eBuyer here :- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114048
On reading the ask-leo link at the very bottom some users argue over wether the XP Home IS stored on the cd, any regulars wish to clarify??
