Can someone help me before i throw my hp notebook out of the nearest window?
Apart from having the normal overheating and switching off problems with this very average notebook i now have a new scenario to test my nerves.
The DVD/CD Drive has suddenly stopped working. It ejects fine and when cd is loaded it appears that it is being read, however the device is not listed if i open My Computer. Nor is it listed if i go into Device Manager. In fact there is no section named DVD/CD in Device Manager at all.
Can someone explain why this happened but more importantly advise how i correct the problem.
If the Filter key(s) do not exist then it is a different problem.
If after removing the Upper and Lower Filters, the drive does not show up in Device Manager, restart the computer and check the POST screen during start-up or go into the BIOS set-up to see if the drive shows there. If it doesn't show in either, then the drive is probably defective and needs replacement.
