I have a desktop HP Pavillion running Vista. I had to at one point factory reset my system. Device manager states all is working correctly...tried everything under the sun...the dvd spins, light flashes but media player states "no disk detected". Can someone maybe think of something that I haven't?

have you tried up-dating the drivers to the DVD rom?
Do you have the proper codecs installed and up-dated?Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

HP uses Win DVD which does not come defaulted with the image. Don't ask me why. Got to HP and download the program or you may already have it on the system CDs that came with your computer.
