Comment:

I just tried to play a DVD and nothing happens. I have it set to auto play. When I go to device manager DVD/CD ROM devices, the only one I see is Optiarc CD-RW CRX880A ATA Device.

Where is my video driver? When I tried to use the windows help it told me to check the BIOS by restarting and hitting F1 repeatedly. When I do this it doesnt bring up the bios screen.

Any suggestions?

Look at the cd/dvd cover. Does it say DVD?

I think you need to press F10 on a compaq.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

See, when I went to device manager and clicked on the properties, I got this message. "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I typed this into a search engine. I found a site and fixed the problem. I had to go in and delete a registry key. Upper and lower filters. Since it wasnt showing upper filters, I simply deleted the lower filters. I just stuck in a CD for my garmin GPS and a window opened asking if I wanted to continue. Before, I would just hear the CD turning and then it would stop.

If anyone else has this problem, go here to fix it..... http://www.fixya.com/support/t10722...
