Solved During installation, expanding windows files 0% will stall

Specs: Windows 7
During installation, expanding windows file 0% will stall for up to 12hrs. i have tried using usb, burn the iso os file with different speeds and also used different dvds, yet it wouldn't get pass expanding windows files.
Pls help.

The hard drive may be faulty and in need of replacement. You can test it with a bootable CD which runs "Seagate SeaTools for DOS" which you can download here (click "Downloads"):

You will also need to download and install "IMGBurn" from here:

Use "IMGBurn" to make the CD from the SeaTools ISO file, then boot your PC from it.
"SeaTools for DOS" will load and you can test the drive with it (use the long/extended test).

Where did you get the ISO from? Also are any of the DVD's you used original discs from Microsoft or are they copies?

phil22. i used the tools u mentioned and realized the drive couldn't pass the test. But installation has refused even with a working hdd.THX1138, i used a friend genuine dvd, though i tried using others(not too legit).
the prob is still there.

Do you do a full format with the Vista DVD before you start installing ?

After you boot to the Vista DVD, remove any partitions and create new partitions. Then format and install Vista.
