I have done this; I then extended my desk top to the second monitor using display settings. The second monitor doesn't react at all except when I start the computer. During that time it mirrors my primary monitor, but as soon as I log in it goes away. The dual monitor feature was working about two weeks ago and then suddenly just stopped. I have a Radeon X600/x550 series video card. I have updated the drivers multiple times with no fix yet.
