Specs: Vista, AMDX24400/2GB

I successfully was able to install the old Dr. Divx 1.06 (wtih 6x patch) on Vista. I have UAC turned off and am using an admin account. Everytime I try to choose an output file for video encoding, I get an error message saying that the output path (no matter which drive/partition/folder I choose) is read-only even when it has full write permission. One other program throws up the same error while most others work just fine against the same folders/paths. All were installed with the same account and run against the same account (which has admin priviliges). Any reason why it would give this wierd error?

I also tried Right clicking on Dr.Divx and choosing "Run as Administrator", but I still get the same "PATH is ready only" error.

Is this a dual boot setup or full install on a single drive/partition?

I ask because in a dual boot setup where Vista is installed on a pratition that is not the normal C:\ then when in Vista it will also show as C:\.

So try saving to a folder on the C:\ drive while in Vista and not the drive that you may have thought it was on when viewing it from the original boot partition that also and originally showed as C:\ drive.

If it is a clean install on a single partition setup then I don't know what the problem may be.

It is a clean install of Vista. I have tried to save it in multiple locations with no success (all NTFS). Perhaps I should try a fat32 partition.

I've got exactly the same problem with Dr.DivX 1.06. I guess it is not compatible with Vista
