Greetings to all, My question is:
Has the DOS issue been solved in Vista or is it still the same as XP?
Can Windows Vista run Dos based programs? Thx a lot

Windows Vista Home Premium and above can run DOS based programs. You open it through windows using the command Prompt but you need to set the compatiability mode to either 2000, 98 or 95 and you need to disable all visual themes.
Need help with computers. Stay away from Microsoft.

Windows Vista 32 still has NTVDM, aka New Technology Virtual DOS Machine, therefore any issues in XP with running MS-DOS based software will still be there in Vista and may be even worse. Vista64 like XP64 has no NTVDM.
Incompatibility is a side effect of running Software in a Virtual Environment!
If you want to use MS-DOS software dual boot MS-DOS and Vista is still the easy solution. M$ are not interested in NTVDM and has been left there as it is easier than removing it.
