Hi guys

When booting the in-laws' machine, I get the following 2 error messages come up:

Rundll Error

Error loading
C:\Users\XXnameXX\AppData\Local\Temp\upnewjfj.dll
Error loading
C:\Users\XXnameXX\AppData\Local\Temp\byXOiGXR.dll

I've tried a google search on the following 2 .dll files, upnewjfj.dll and byXOiGXR.dll, but NO results...??
I know that these files are stored in the temp folder, but I have no idea what they are associated with.

Any help or advise would be greatfully received, Thank You.

PS.. I have yet to do a full clean up on the machine and scan it for viruses, spyware and adware.

Don

yes I agree with the last poster ,for future reference " virus total" is good place to upload suspect files

http://www.virustotal.com/

make a note of the files location open the Virus Total web site click the browse button and navigate it and upload , they will check it against 30 + up date checkers and give you the result

You should check the MSCONFIG entries on that machine, they are probably being called up from there & they need to be cleared. Anyhow, there's no doubt about it: those two are malicious or bogus dll files.

Since they cannot be loaded, there should not be any concern about them. Just go to your temp folder and inspect the properties of the files. Maybe you can find some info that's helpful in identifying them. Otherwise delete them. If something malfunctions, you can restore them from the recycle bin.

I can't imagine them doing much harm in your temp folder
and they've likely been accumulated innocently over time.
But it shouldn't do any harm in deleting them either if you're
that concerned.

Google isn't completely knowledgeable when it comes to
files and references. It's quite possible that there are many
DLL files out there which haven't been indexed and made
searchable yet!
