hi, i have a dell inspiron 1720 and i have a problem with the dvd drive, when i try putting a video dvd in it make lots of stange clicks and will not work.
However if i put in a data dvd it will read it find and will burn fine.
How can i get it to work?
How come it is only for video dvd's?
I have tried updateing the firmware on the dvd drive but it does not help.

By "video dvd" do you mean DVDs purchased or rented from retail type outlets or video DVDs that you authored yourself?

Do you have a third party software DVD decoder on the machine -- you know you do need that to playback DVDs right?
