new laptop, usual junk installed ,vista home, powerdvd,works 9 however one thing ive not seen before on the desktop there is a super small white square icon with an orange outlined envelope in it, you can move it around but not delete or find its properties, does nothing on a double click

Right click on it and left click on properties. What does it say? If it's a shortcut, click find target.
If you really want to delete it, download Unlocker.

thanks i forgot about unlocker!
it has no properties ,it just doesnt do anything i can find delete on boot has been mentioned but what to delete lol, i'll try unlocker and see what happens.

it looks like one of those icons belonging to applications used by computer companies to download and install updated drivers. try to go to control panel and have a look at the installed programs. See if you can locate the icon from there. Webmaster of Web Talk <a/>
