Can you help me to know how to desinstall Vista and install XP?The machine said XP disc could'nt process as Vista is newer than the one in the disc. You can't uninstall Vista and you can't format from the command prompt because you are still using the OS and it can't delete itself. You have to use the XP disk to boot with and format the partition. This can have it's own problems, if you have a SATA drive you will need the drivers for it on floppy disk, or slipstreamed onto the XP instalation disk. You will also need XP drivers for your hardware. If your laptop came with XP originally you may still have a recovery partition from which you can restore it to the way it was when you first got it.
