I am not a hardcore gamer. I just want to be able to play some games released this year and run vista smoothly. Anyone who plays games on this laptop want to comment?
Also, is it worth the extra $50 to get the extra 20gigs of space and 9 cell battery?

You say you are not a hardcore gamer yet you are looking at a $500 notebook to play "play some games released this year and run vista smoothly" - you need to get your head out of the clouds.

$500 DELL will not go anywhere near your expectations, also Vista is not recommended for gaming, XP is still far better.
