Dell BIOS boot sequence issues

Specs: Windows vista
my dell goes throught the bios goes through bootup and gets to bios and then says a keyboard failure and wont go from there. it says hit f1 to continue or f2 to run set up..but i cant the keyboard wont work..i guess i am going to get a new keyboard and hope this works..if anyone has any ideas on this i would really appreciate it!!

In some older models and maybe some new ones there is a fuse (might be labeled R or H or F or even C) that can blow if you plug and unplug the ps/2 type keyboard in while power is on.

Usb keyboards are a bit different. They may need a bios setting but it can only be done from a ps/2 keyboard plugged in.

Can't you borrow one to test?

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

I bought a new usb keyboard,it did the same thing,I am going to check the fuse u talk about and will let u know what happenes.

Please forgive me but what is a ps2 keyboard? I have an older gateway pc I am gonna check if I still have the keyboard maybe it has a different plug and I can try that ya think?
