deleted Vista now cannot install XP

Specs: Windows XP
I deleted Windows Vista from my laptop (and no longer have the installation discs) and cannot install Windows XP. I keep getting a start-up screen which I cannot escape from - nor can I get to DOS - any ideas as to what I can do to totally remove Vista from my laptop so that I can install XP? TY!

did you first check to see if this laptop has xp drivers available for it? Not all do.

Screen you are hung up on? Perhaps no hard drive found? You have to give it the hard drive controller when it says hit f6 [lower left corner of screen] when asked

We can't say for sure right now if the computer is really working.

Might borrow any vista or windows 7 dvd from someone and see if you can get to the install screen.

XP may need drivers slipstreamed in if they even exist at all.

I would see if the maker offers a cheap restore disk to return it to Vista like you bought it. Some offer dvd's for like $20.

I support the 'Everybody Draw Mohammed Day'. A religion doesn't deny my freedom.

If you have a SATA Hard drive you will need to slipstream the controller drivers and SP3 into the XP CD with nLite.

Win XP has no MS-DOS, so MS-DOS will not help what-so-ever..

Why is this not posted in the XP Forum ??
