Subject: Deleted Index[1] FileOS: VistaCPU/Ram: T770 3-GigModel/Manufacturer: Fujitsu E8410P |
Comment: Hi, I just ran a virus scan, and a file was quarantined. I found the file in the quarantine area, and deleted it. It was something like Index[1]... I'm wondering if this was a necessary file? Or how to find out if it was?
When I restarted the OS, some of the deleted favourites had re-appeared in the favourites menu--if that has any relation. If it was necessary, how can it be restored? Thanks.

Reply: (edit)by system restore, but it most likely was a trojan that you deleted. You could try going into the command prompt and doing a sfc/ scannow go to start type cmd then right click on the cmd.exe at the top run as admin then tyle sfc/ scannow and if something is missing sfc will replace it. but i wouldn't go this far considering windows reapplies most those types of index files automaticly when you restart your pc.

Reply: (edit)It said I must be an Admin running a console session in order to use the sfc utility. Your last paragraph is fairly reassuring, so I'll just assume it was restored. Thanks Cobra!
