I installed a program, ePSXe, a popular Playstation emulator, and the files that were installed seem very strange. It's hard to explain, but I will try. The files seem to have a permanent footprint. If you delete them, it appears to have been deleted, but the program can still detect and use it as if it was never touched. If you rename a file, the program will see the renamed file, and the original. If you replace the file with a different file of the same name, it will see only one, but the original one overrides the newer one. Only ePSXe can see these files. These "ghost" files are very annoying since I cannot update the files, as ePSXe only uses the "ghost" ones. Also, I am concerned that my hard drive is being corrupted. I have installed the program to two different locations and had the same results. I used the check disk utility and defragmented the hard drive. Neither of these have solved my problem. Could anyone tell me what is going on?
