Well, I have so many programs that wont work in Vista, I decided to set up a dual boot. I'm very insecure doing this as I don't want to trash things. But I managed to add a partition to C (someone told me this was the best way) then changed my mind and prefer to use an empty external hard drive which was my original choice. Working thru disk manager, it appears I can just right click the partition and choose delete. Someone please tell me if this is correct before I trash my computer.

Update:
I right clicked and chose delete and ended up with what appeared as an empty space that was not usable. C wouldn't extend into it (no, I don't know what I'm doing). I tried to delete further but got a warning message that it wouldn't be accessible or something like that if I did, so I didn't, and just formated it again so I have that "drive" still. Is it better to put XP in that space or on an external drive? If I keep it without XP I suppose I can make it my game drive since it is the G drive now. However, I would really like to get rid of it or as I said, put XP on it if it's the best way to go.Lynn

Either way is fine.
The fact that the space is not contiguous does not make the partition space unusable. You can use it for data storage, or as you intended: load XP on it. Lately, there seem to be a sparked interest in dualbooting ... why all of a sudden, I have yet to figure out.
If you go down a few messages below yours, there is a thread from someone else regarding this topic, you might want to check it out.

I know why the interest in dual, VISTA! It really is user UNfriendly and so many programs wont work in it.
