I have been getting updates daily for a week now. I'm assuming it's Windows Update that downloads automatically, but every night when I shut down, the shut down window says it will install new updates and then shut down. What is going on? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Are they small downloads like under 200kb?

This normally happends due to Windows Defender defenition updates.

Last week Microsoft put out like 3 or 4 Windows Defender defenition updates. It's normal to get 3 or 4 small updates in a week, if that is what you are seeing.

I set my windows updates to "Check for updates, but let me choose whether or not to install them" that way it doesn't automaticly download and install updates without me knowing about it first. You should try putting it on that setting and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply, Cobra. Yes, the downloads have been relatively small except for today - there was a security download and a service pack for Microsoft Office. I did what you suggested and set it to notify me before downloading. I'll see how it goes. I was starting to worry if something was wrong with my computer, so thanks again.
