Subject: CPU Not Working Right (More info+Im
OS: Vista
CPU/Ram: AMD Turion 64 x2/ 2GB
Model/Manufacturer: MT6451
Comment:
My CPU isnt working right. When I play games that I should be able to handle, they lag pretty bad. My CPU usage is at about %10 when not playing games. I have done virus/spyware scans and cleaned up quite a bit. When I run System Requirements lab it shows my CPU as a bad cpu (shows it being worse then Pentium 2 which it is better then Pentium 4). I have done System Requirements Lab before and it showed me having a great CPU. It also used to show it running at a total of about 2.9-3.1ghz (not sure which one) and now it shows it at 2.39ghz.

I would appreciate any help. Do I need to reformat? Whats the matter with my CPU?

Notebooks are generally equipped with video systems sub-par for gaming.

I should have mentioned that I was able to play the games that I have but since 2 days ago I have been having lag problems. I dont play next-gen games, older games. HL2 ran alright on low settings as well as other games on med-high but now games lag on the lowest of settings and Sys Requirements Lab says my CPU is worse then a Pentium 2 which it is FAR Superior to it.

Check for spyware, viruses, or unnecessary programs loading at startup.

Which programs did you use?

"It also used to show it running at a total of about 2.9-3.1ghz (not sure which one) and now it shows it at 2.39ghz"

The TL-50 runs at 1.6GHz. The two core speeds are not combined.

Where in System Requirements Lab are you getting that your CPU is worse than a Pentium 2? In your screenshot, it shows that atleast a "Pentium 2 or Athlon equivalent" is required to play the warcraft game. Perhaps you misunderstood.

As the others have said, use System Restore. Also disable anything extra such as Aero. IMO, I wouldn't do any gaming on Vista until it matures more. XP is still the fastest for playing games.
