In the audio control panel I disabled the internal speaker because I wasn't getting any sound. Not knowing I wouldn't be able to re-enable it. Is there a way to get it back.

... try this Right Click on Taskbar > Properties > Notification Area tab > under system icons, check Volume

... Note that some icons might disappear entirely until you reboot
