my old laptop broke so i tookout the hard drive, bought the relevant connections to plug into my usb port om my pc but nohin seems to happen.It doesnt even show that anything is plugged into a usb prt.Only wnt the pictures, music, etc off of the hard drive but its driving m nuts.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks
How did the old laptop break? If it was the hard drive that gave out, chances of recovering anything off of it are slim.

Use a rear usb port & make sure the laptop drive is jumpered correctly.If the PC is Sata, the laptop drive jumper setting is Master.
If the PC has an IDE hard drive, you will probably have to configure both drives, let us know what you have. Take the cover off, if you don't know.

If you are using this HD in an external enclosure with a USB plug (sometimes called a "Caddy") then make sure all the connections inside the box are firm. If the HD is being tried on a PC the normal master & slave arrangement doesn't apply as it is plug and play - just leave it set as master. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
