Compter doesn't see hardrive

I have a laptop Compaq and all of a sudden windows won't see the hard drive. It came with Vista I have tried reinstalling vista, it only reaches to the point where it sees the hard drive and that's all. I have tried changing the hard drive and with the same result.

Yes I can see it in Bios, however i was trying to use recovery to
bring it back but that 2 did not work.
